Welcome to the "Collecting Blickling" website!
This site is dedicated to collecting rare and interesting books about Blickling Hall, in order to preserve and better understand its rich history. All of the books featured on this site were written before December 12th, 1940. This is the date that Philip Kerr, the 11th Marquis of Lothian, died. Upon his death, the ownership of the Hall was transferred to the National Trust.

It is with profound sadness that I must announce that the collection of books featured on this site have been sold. Although I have decided to keep the rarest books, the vast majority were sold earlier this month in order to raise money and make room, as I have moved to a smaller apartment and am unable to care for these books. I am reminded of the 1932 Lothian Sale, in which the last owner of Blickling Hall, Philip Kerr, sold his books during the Great Depression to raise money for death taxes. Lord Lothian only received a fraction of the value of the books, and later regretted selling them. It seems history is repeating itself, but on a smaller scale.
